Picked up the bike at about 9 last night. It’s only about 400 metres away, but from taking the car back to returning to the cabin with the bike, the Police had set up a breathalizer stop. Good job I’d only drunk 9 pints or I could have been in trouble!

Leaving at 9-ish today as we’re off to the indigenous species zoo in Lavers Hill and it’s not that far. Since it’s Sunday, it’s not open until 10.

NOTE: The above was written this morning before we left.

Cont’d…….Actually, the zoo doesn’t open Sundays – or any other day for that matter. It recently had to close down. Judging by the amount of local wildlife I’ve seen so far, (ie. nearly none), I’m not surprised.

Piled on down the GOR and stopped at the Melba Gully – one of the few remaining tracts of rain forest down here. Really cool. Next stop was Otway Fly Treetop Walk which was exactly what it says – a walk up into the tree canopy – up to 50 metres in fact. (Another bonus was that there were no flies up there either)

Then we picked up the GOR again and travelled along about 40 miles of fantastic twisty coast road where Caz saw some koalas in the trees, but I felt disinclined to look for some reason or other. Muscling 386kgs of cruiser around on these was great!  Turned off at Lorne about 10 miles before the end and headed up to Colac where we stopped for the night.

165 miles today and I feel back on track after a couple of short riding days. Off to the Grampian Mountains tomorrow.
